Game 7.
that last game of a series that determines whether you pack your bags and head to vacation before the next season starts.. or if you continue facing challenger after challenger on your way to the NBA Finals..
this postseason has been nothing short of absolute cinema: we’ve been upsets, devastating injuries, legacies hang in question as few teams continue forward into the depths of the forest that we call the playoffs. in the first round, we saw a timeless king and his newly acquired magician from the Mavericks fall short to a Ant-Man and his flock of Wolves in a series where the storied Lakers were favored to win. we witnessed an assassin with deadly range, his newly acquired butler, their tenacious forward of Green and co from the state that hails the Golden Bridge shoot the Rockets from out of orbit, sending them crashing back into Earth as the Warriors sent the young astronomers home in a 7-game marquee series.
out East, we saw a Greek God fall to a playmaking/sharpshooting tactician that hails from Indiana in a series marred with controversy.. whilst the Greek God’s Time Keeper fell to a devastating Achilles tear as he tried to triumph from a late season blood clot issue to keep the galloping Bucks’ postseason dreams alive..
as of tonight:
the flock of Wolves sent the assassin who’s a Warrior from Golden State and his crew home late Wednesday, while questions arose if the legend, who’s range succeeds anything we’ve ever seen before’s health was the reason for the defeat and if he’d been healthy, would results remain the same.. the Pacers sent the 4 Horsemen and their newly adopted Hunter packing in a series where odds stacked the box against the crew who hails from Indiana, birthing questions on whether this was sheer luck or is this team capable of making a deep run as they await their next opponent: the Irishmen, who recently lost their leader to an Achilles injury in Game 4.. or the Novas and their newly adopted KAT.
but that’s not the point of this:
out West, a storm is brewing and this is where the excitement truly begins:
a sorcerer who wields the ability to control Thunder and his crew of lightning wielders face the Joker, an archer with blue steel arrows, an explosive guard who now aims to be more tact and decisive with his moves and their former high flying Magician turned teammate in a battle of who’s more valuable: a tact guard or a big with visionary traits we’ve never seen from this position before..
the result?
the Nuggets smuggled away G1, with their high flyer displaying he’s now in possession of attacks from deep range, hitting a game winner to put Denver’s 5280 team up 1-0.
in Game 2, the Thunder’s lightning fast attack led to a blowout where they evened the series, each team wielding a piece to a 4-part puzzle.
Game 3 had each team fighting with tenacity to the finish, whilst Denver pulled ahead and never looked back: 2-1.
Game 4 slowed to a crawl — defensive grit, offensive grind, and one side blinked. scoring pace where one team seemed to stop at a grueling halt: 2-2.
Game 5: the lightning wielders attempted to show their lethality and took this game too: Thunder leads 3-2..
yet tonight, the Joker showed that he won’t go down without a fight.. the lightning were stunned as the archer with blue arrows shot alongside the Joker into a series tied at 3 apiece.
Sunday night, we get to see who continues their playoff journey and this begs the question: does the winner of this series deserve the crown.. of the Most Valuable player in the league?
a Joker, who just when it seems he’s hit the pinnacle of his abilities, kicks it another gear into breathtaking manner.. or a lightning fast guard who’s tact and devastating with orthodox and fundamentalist moves being his bread and butter as he wills his way into another 30+ point game..
And when the dust settles Sunday night… one of them walks toward the crown. Find out next time — on the NBA’s stage of legends.
